The Priest
Later Napoleon Bonaparte became the leader of France. He new that he needed the skills of many of the nobles because they had a good education. The De Forbin Jansons returned to France and Napoleon selected Charles to become a diplomat and serve the revolutionary government.

The government had turned against the Church and wanted to control it. 

Charles decided he did not like what the government were doing and decided to become a priest instead. He though it was better to spread God's Word than spread revolution.
